Helen Godwin is the Mayor of the West of England. Elected in May 2025, she has started a new chapter for the region. Helen was born in the West, grew up and is raising her family here, and has worked as a local councillor and in business. Helen's priorities are reliable transport, affordable homes, and green jobs. Since May, the West has seen free summer, Christmas and Easter bus travel for children, a £5m Youth Guarantee launched, and £752m for transport secured. A new regional Growth Strategy aims to create 72,000 jobs over ten years, alongside a new Child Poverty Action Plan.
