Matt Nicholas is a London-based writer and director drawn to absurd stories about ordinary people. His work uses humour to explore universal human anxieties. After starting his career in advertising, Matt began writing and directing his own short comedy films. In 2023, he won the Global Cannes Young Lions Film competition. His latest short, STUCK, is a comedy musical set in an NHS hospital, inspired by the surprisingly common excuses people give for ending up with foreign objects stuck inside them. He is currently developing new narrative comedy projects.
