To mark the London Film School's 70th anniversary, Encounters presents a selection of outstanding short films from the archive of the UK's oldest film school. Featuring work by Lara Zeidan, Ariq Anam Khan, Servane d'Alverny, Zhiyi Wang, Daniel Guliyev and Rafael Manuel, the programme showcases the range and ambition of recent LFS talent, with films that have collectively travelled to Busan, Palm Springs, Clermont-Ferrand and the Student Academy Awards. Several of these filmmakers have deep ties to Encounters as former competition selections and jury members, making this a homecoming as much as a celebration.
This programme brings together six films that showcase the range and ambition of recent LFS talent, from Lara Zeidan's Teddy Award-winning Three Centimetres to Rafael Manuel's Silver Bear-winning Filipiñana, which took the Brief Encounters Grand Prix when it screened at the festival in 2020. Alongside them are works by Ariq Anam Khan, Servane d'Alverny, Zhiyi Wang and Daniel Guliyev, whose films have collectively travelled to Busan, Palm Springs, Clermont-Ferrand and the Student Academy Awards.
