Join professional animator Maraike Kraemer for a fun, hands-on introduction to the basics of stop motion animation.
Designed for ages 13–17, this workshop gives young animators the chance to learn how stop motion works while making their own short animated film.
Participants will explore the key principles behind stop motion, from creating characters and setting up a shot to moving objects frame by frame and capturing each moment. Along the way, they’ll learn how movement, timing and storytelling come together to create the illusion of life.
The workshop is relaxed, creative and practical, with plenty of opportunity to experiment, have fun and develop individual ideas. No previous animation experience is needed and all clay and animation materials are provided. Participants just need to bring a fully charged phone or tablet with the free Stop Motion Studio app installed.
Maraike has worked on Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Chicken Run. She runs Jolly Fox Studio, her own animation studio, where she creates and delivers hands-on animation workshops.
Expect clay, creativity, movie-making and a proper introduction to the magic of stop motion!
