After this year's packed BFI IMAX premiere in May, straight 8 brings their best films of 2026 to Encounters.
Each straight 8 film is made on a single roll of super 8 film. Despite the challenge of editing in-camera, the quality is outstanding.
The selection was shaped by the straight 8 jury which included the likes of Mark Jenkin, Rachel Clark, John Maclean, Justine Wright, Stuart Brown and more.
straight 8 launched in 1999 with its straightforward filmmaking challenge: to make a little piece of cinema on the smallest film format. straight 8 2027 is open for entries now - so come and get inspired and take advantage of a discount offered to the audience at the event.
The session will be introduced by a member of the straight 8 team or family.
