Matei, a shepherd boy in a Romanian village, finds more solace among his sheep than with his abusive, alcoholic father. When he begins mirroring his father's violence onto the flock, we glimpse the anger taking root in him. A public humiliation only deepens his rage, made crueller by his father having predicted it. Matei seems destined to become exactly what he's been told he is, trapped in a self-perpetuating cycle of violence and shame. Now, alone in the woods, staring at an innocent lamb, he faces a crossroads: become his father, or become himself.
