Prior to her appointment as the DFC’s first CEO in March 2026, Mandy Chang had an extensive career as a documentary director and producer before serving in senior roles including commissioning editor of the BBC’s prestigious Storyville strand and Fremantle’s Global Head of Documentaries. In this conversation with documentary scholar and DFC co-founder, Dr Steve Presence, Mandy will discuss her career, the international documentary ecosystem and why the UK documentary sector needs a new, member-led organisation now.
